Dongguan Data Center No. 1: When Dehumidification Was the Real Load

The retrofit at the China Securities and Futures Industry Southern Information Technology Center started with an operating conflict: the room needed better humidity control, but the existing refrigerating equipment had been chosen conservatively and was not the right answer for the dehumidification duty. The public record names Dongguan Shenzhen Communication Information Technology as the user.

The published solution

The project page states that 30 CMC room-level chilled-water air conditioners were supplied. Their primary duty was dehumidification, with cooling available as a backup when the room load required it.

The page also describes two site-fit changes: left- and right-side pipe connections, and a split filter design for the tight plant space. Those details are small compared with the equipment count, but they often decide whether maintenance can be performed without disassembly or unnecessary downtime.

What is not in the record

No room humidity setpoint, chilled-water temperature, measured energy reduction or PUE is published. The case entry therefore treats the 30-unit scope as a project fact and leaves the performance result open.

For another dehumidification retrofit, the first survey should separate latent load from sensible load. A unit selected only for cooling capacity can fail the humidity target, while a unit selected only for dehumidification can become an expensive way to provide backup cooling.
